BIC and IBAN

The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is the standard for the bank account number of the recipient in the case of European cross-border payments.

The use of IBAN and BIC (Bank Identifier Code) is obligatory for cross-border payments in Euros within the European Economic Area (EU member states, and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) as identification of the beneficiary customer and his bank. Since 1st January 2007 such credit transfers that do not include IBAN and BIC may be returned or rejected by the bank receiving the credit transfer.
